2006 Favs
It's time for the "best of 2006" lists--both Fiction_L & Pub_Lib have started the ball rolling. And since I'm only a lurker--heaven forbid I post something on a list serve that someone will find fault with & proceed to attack every pore of my body (my ego is pretty fragile as it is)--I never participate. But here are my choices for my favorite reads of 2006:
Fiction:
Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos
Mystery:
Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard
Runners-up:
Raine Stockton series by Donna Ball
Jack Field series by Lee Charles Kelley
Non-Fiction:
Life & Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: a Memoir by Bill Bryson
And You Know You Should Be Glad by Bob Greene
The Ride of Our Lives: Roadside Lessons of an American Family by Mike Leonard
It's quite unlike me to choose more non-fiction titles than mystery & fiction combined (runners-up don't count) but just goes to show you that readers can't be pigeon-holed. Even professional ones.
